(FOX Rochester) Local Electronics Recycler Hosts Childhood Cancer Fundraiser

BROCKPORT, NY - Today, electronics recycler Sunnking launched registration for its 2023 e-Scrap for Camp fundraiser benefitting Camp Good Days.

Businesses around Rochester can register online from January 9 through February 3.

The program recycles company and employee electronics to raise money for Camp Good Days and Special Times, a non-profit organization that improves the quality of life for children, adults, and families whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Businesses can register for FREE online at eScrapforCamp.com.

The deadline to sign up is February 3, 2023.

Rochester-area collections begin as early as February 20.

Businesses and organizations in the Rochester area are encouraged to sign-up to collect electronics from their company, employees, friends, and family members for two weeks. Sunnking provides boxes to gather those devices and offers free delivery and pickup. For every pound of electronics recycled from participating organizations during the fundraiser, a portion of the proceeds is donated to Camp Good Days to fund future programs.

"This is an opportunity where you can give back and it has a direct impact on families and kids," said Cheryl McGee, the mother of a cancer survivor at Camp Good Days. "It's [a program] that's been in the community for over a decade, and this is a chance to be a part of something that is so unique and so special impacting the environment, our kids and their families forever."

2023 marks the 13th year Sunnking has held the e-Scrap for Camp fundraiser throughout Western New York and the Finger Lakes Region.

Last year, 356 businesses contributed as Sunnking gifted $12,696 to the non-profit.

Sunnking has donated more than $140,000 throughout the program's existence. To date, the program has recycled nearly 6.1 million pounds of electronics.

"The program has evolved into more than just a fundraiser; it has grown into a yearly tradition that local communities anxiously await," said Lisa Booz, COO and WNY Regional Director of Camp Good Days & Special Times. "It's incredibly moving to see everyone coming together to help us provide activities for these kids like sporting events, concerts, festivals, and anything to give them a break from the health battles they're fighting."
