Supporting Families While Their Children Receive Medical Care

Join us as we recycle e-waste in support of families in need of housing while their children get the medical care they need.

What is Recycle 4 Ronald?

THIS BUSINESS-ONLY EVENT IS NOT INTENDED FOR PUBLIC COLLECTIONS. SUNNKING WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE PARTICIPANTS WHO ADVERTISE THEMSELVES AS A PUBLIC COLLECTION SITE.

With Recycle 4 Ronald, Sunnking is introducing a new way for businesses to give back. Modeled after the success of e-Scrap for Camp, this campaign supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester (RMHCR), which helps families of sick children.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Businesses collect electronics for recycling from employees.
  2. Sunnking picks up and responsibly recycles the items.
  3. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the charity.

This initiative combines sustainability and compassion, easing the burden on families while making recycling easy for businesses.

Recycle your e-scrap with Sunnking this year to help families with sick children access the housing they need while receiving care.

How Does R4R Work?

Buffalo, Rochester, and Whitesboro, NY-area businesses are encouraged to gather electronics from their employees, friends, and family members for two weeks. Sunnking provides boxes to collect items and will pick them up for FREE! For every pound of electronics Sunnking recycles from your organization, a portion of the proceeds are donated to RMHCR to fund future programs.

  • Each participating location will have the opportunity to collect electronics from employees, friends, and family for two weeks. After the registration period closes, a Sunnking representative will contact you via email with supply drop-off and electronics pick-up dates. Please do not announce your collection event until you receive these dates.
  • Sunnking will provide collection boxes and pallets during the day before your scheduled collection at no cost. Supplies must be kept dry and indoors.
  • Box dimensions are approximately 48"W x 40"L x 48"H, and they sit on top of a standard pallet. Your facility must have dock access OR doorway ground level clearance (no stairs) to accommodate the pallets, boxes, and a pallet jack used to move the collection material.
  • Electronics will be picked up by Sunnking during the day after your scheduled collection and recycled at no cost.
  • Sunnking will track and record the net weight of electronics recycled from each participating location and provide a report and Certificate of Donation at the end of the campaign to the email address provided at registration.
  • At the end of the campaign, Sunnking will donate a portion of the proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities for every pound of electronics recycled. The donation usually happens around September 1st to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
  • Please refer to our list of acceptable materials for recycling before participating.
  • CRT televisions and monitors will be collected; however, they will not contribute to the final donation due to their high recycling cost.
  • You will receive marketing materials that you can use to generate excitement about the event via email.

More About RMHC of Rochester

The Rochester nonprofit operates as an independent 501(c)(3) organization and is not owned or managed by McDonald’s. However, McDonald’s Owner/Operators in the Greater Rochester area have played a significant role in its history and continue to provide essential support.

Their involvement dates back to 1990, when they partnered with the University of Rochester Medical Center and local donors to fund the launch of the Westmoreland House. In 2005, they also contributed to the opening of the House Within the Hospital.

Over the years, the McDonald’s Owner/Operators have been invaluable partners, funding expansions, serving on boards, volunteering, sponsoring events, and engaging suppliers, employees, and customers to support the nonprofit’s mission.
